Apart from their enormous sizes, what makes dinosaurs alluring is their less than common appearance. Humans are used to seeing and encountering canine-like animals, cat-like animals, other reptiles, among others that the discovery of dinosaurs with their horns, and scales, and big bones proved to be one of the most exciting things for science and discovery.

Dinosaurs are distinguished for their enormous built, and their unusually shaped bones. This add to their mystery. What did they eat? Why are they so enormous? The pterodactyl is one of those, it is a flying reptile, that in itself is something unusual. The triceratops is one of those dinosaurs which has an unusual appearance.

The triceratops is easily recognizable. This is because it has three horns and has a distinguished frill. The triceratops, “three horned face” in Greek, is one of the most popularly depicted dinosaur. It has similarities to the rhinoceros, it has three horns on its face. One of which is a small horn located in the middle of its eyes. No one is really sure what these horns are for. These horns are depicted in comic books, and movies as defensive mechanisms against the Tyrannosaurus Rex, although there is no truth to that claim as of yet. It is said that there are many triceratops species. Though, as of yet, only two had been validated.
